Nigeria Passport Photo Maker
A Nigerian passport photo is 35 × 45 mm on a plain white background — not the 2 × 2 inch format used at many overseas pharmacies. The Nigeria Immigration Service also asks for an unusually recent photo, generally taken within two weeks. Our free tool crops to 35 × 45 mm entirely in your browser.

Official Nigeria passport photo requirements
Nigerian passports are issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), with applications completed on the NIS passport portal and biometrics captured at a passport office. The photo is 35 × 45 mm on a plain white background, with the head measuring 31 to 36 mm from chin to crown.
Keep a neutral expression, mouth closed and eyes open, facing the camera directly, and remove glasses. One rule catches applicants off guard: NIS expects the photo to have been taken within roughly two weeks, far stricter than the six-month norm elsewhere. If you apply from a Nigerian consulate abroad, standard U.S. drugstore 2 × 2 inch photos will not fit the 35 × 45 mm requirement.

Getting the digital size right for online applications
For the NIS portal, the digital upload is a JPEG on a white background, often around 350 × 450 pixels, while a printed 35 × 45 mm photo at 300 DPI is 413 × 531 pixels. Some guidance asks for 600 DPI capture for extra sharpness. A passport photo is sensitive biometric data, so our tool resizes and crops it on your own device — it is never sent to any server.

Frequently asked questions
How recent must a Nigerian passport photo be?
The NIS generally expects a photo taken within about two weeks of applying — much stricter than the usual six-month standard.
Can I use a 2 × 2 inch photo for a Nigerian passport?
No. Nigeria uses 35 × 45 mm on a white background, so standard U.S. drugstore 2 × 2 inch photos won't fit.
Are glasses allowed in a Nigerian passport photo?
No. Remove glasses so your eyes are fully visible with no glare or frame shadow.
