China Passport Photo Maker
A Chinese passport photo must be 33 × 48 mm on a pure white background — an unusual size that is neither the European 35 × 45 mm nor the US 2 × 2 inch. For digital submission it is commonly 390 × 567 pixels with a 40-120 KB file size.

Official NIA and PSB requirements
Chinese passports are issued by the National Immigration Administration (NIA) together with local Exit-Entry Administration bureaus of the Public Security Bureau (PSB). The photo is 33 × 48 mm on a pure white background with no patterns or shadows.
China defines head geometry precisely: the head is 15-22 mm wide and 28-33 mm long, with 3-5 mm of white space above the top of the head. Glasses are not permitted and the expression must be completely neutral with the mouth closed. These exact measurements make Chinese photos less forgiving than a generic ICAO crop.

Getting the digital size right
For NIA online submissions, the digital photo is typically 390 × 567 pixels with a file between 40 KB and 120 KB; some portals accept a range from 354 × 472 up to 420 × 560 pixels. Keeping the file inside the KB limits matters as much as the pixel size.
Our tool crops to the 33 × 48 mm ratio, positions the head to spec, and helps you hit the file-size window — all in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so your passport photo never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions
What pixel size does a Chinese passport photo need?
For online NIA submission it is commonly 390 × 567 pixels with a file size of 40-120 KB. Some portals accept anywhere from 354 × 472 to 420 × 560 pixels, but the file must stay within the KB limits.
Why is the Chinese passport photo 33 × 48 mm?
China uses its own 33 × 48 mm standard rather than the European 35 × 45 mm. It also specifies exact head width and height, so you cannot reuse a generic passport photo without re-cropping.
Are glasses allowed in a Chinese passport photo?
No. The NIA and PSB do not permit glasses of any kind. Remove all eyewear and keep a completely neutral expression with your mouth closed.
