United Kingdom Passport Photo Maker
A UK passport photo is 45 mm high by 35 mm wide when printed, and at least 600 × 750 pixels for the online digital route. HM Passport Office bans glasses entirely — a stricter rule than most countries — and asks for a very recent photo. Our free tool crops to spec in your browser.

Official UK passport photo requirements
Passports are issued by HM Passport Office, and most people apply online through GOV.UK, uploading a digital photo or entering a code from a photo booth. The printed size is 45 mm high by 35 mm wide, with the face measuring 29 to 34 mm from chin to crown.
The background must be plain and light-coloured — light grey or cream works best — with no shadows behind you. Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed and eyes open. HMPO is unusually strict on glasses: they are not allowed at all unless you have written medical evidence that you cannot remove them. Your photo should be very recent, taken within the last month.

Getting the digital size right for online applications
For the online GOV.UK application, the digital photo must be at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall, and HMPO has raised its capture guidance toward 600 DPI so the image is sharp enough for facial recognition. Since a passport photo is sensitive personal data, our tool does all resizing and cropping on your own device — the image is never uploaded to us.
