Two things eat into a 1500x500 header. First, your profile picture (about 200x200) sits over the lower-left, roughly 24px from the left and bottom edges, hiding whatever is behind it. Second, X crops the top and bottom of the header on mobile, so content near the vertical extremes can vanish on phones.
The safe move is to keep your important content within the central 1260x420 region, away from all four edges, and clear of the lower-left where the avatar lands. It also helps to leave roughly a 200x100 margin free in the lower-right, where a mobile button can overlap. Design outward from a centered focal point rather than filling the corners.
