Brazil Passport Photo Maker

A Brazilian passport photo is printed at 5 × 7 cm (50 × 70 mm) on a plain white background, while the face itself follows ICAO proportions. Brazil's larger print size surprises people used to the 35 × 45 mm European format, so measure carefully before printing.

Official Polícia Federal requirements

Passports in Brazil are issued by the Polícia Federal, which follows ICAO Document 9303 for the biometric face while using a 5 × 7 cm print. The background must be clearly white — off-white or cream is not accepted — and the face must be a full front view with a neutral, serious expression and the mouth closed.

The head measures roughly 31 to 36 mm from chin to crown and should occupy about 70-80% of the frame. Glasses are not allowed, and the photo must be recent, taken within the last six months to reflect your current appearance. The white background rule is strictly enforced during the in-person verification.

Getting the digital size right

The Polícia Federal now accepts digital photo uploads through its online scheduling system, and the digital file must meet the same specifications as a print. For the 5 × 7 cm format, export at 591 × 827 pixels at 300 DPI.

Our maker crops to Brazil's 5 × 7 cm ratio and enforces a clean white background before you download. Every step runs in your browser and nothing is ever uploaded to us — ideal for a document photo you would rather keep private.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the Brazilian passport photo 5 × 7 cm instead of 35 × 45 mm?

Brazil's Polícia Federal specifies a 5 × 7 cm print, which is larger than the European 35 × 45 mm standard. The face inside still follows ICAO proportions, but the paper size is bigger, so use the correct crop.

Can I upload my photo online to the Polícia Federal?

Yes. The Polícia Federal online scheduling system accepts a digital photo that meets the same rules as a print. You can also bring a printed 5 × 7 cm photo to your appointment.

Does the background have to be pure white?

Yes. Off-white, cream or light-colored backgrounds are rejected. The background must be clearly white and evenly lit, and this is checked in person at the Polícia Federal.
